Vitamin B6

P5P (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) — typical dose 25 mg

We don’t sell Vitamin B6. Whether you actually need it — and at what dose — depends on your bloodwork. Get your analysis to find out.

What it does

P5P is the bioactive coenzyme form of Vitamin B6 — the form your body uses directly without conversion. It supports neurotransmitter synthesis (serotonin, dopamine, GABA), methylation alongside B12 and folate, and helps regulate homocysteine. The active form is particularly important for adults whose B6 conversion enzymes decline with age.

Key benefits

  • Neurotransmitter synthesis
  • Methylation support
  • Homocysteine control
  • Energy metabolism

The evidence

Required co-factor for over 100 enzyme reactions. Active P5P form preferred over pyridoxine HCl, especially in older adults. Often paired with B12 and methylfolate for full methylation support.

Where to buy

If your analysis calls for Vitamin B6, this is the quality, single-ingredient version we’d reach for:

ThornePyridoxal 5'-Phosphate Capsules (33.8 mg P5P / cap)

Single-ingredient active P5P from the reference brand. A touch above our 25 mg note — still well within the safe range.

We may earn a small referral fee if you buy through this link — it never changes our pick. We hold no inventory and have no house brand.

Important

Doses above 100 mg/day long-term have been associated with peripheral neuropathy. 25 mg is well within safe range. Some interaction with levodopa.
