Vitamin A
Retinyl Palmitate — 5,000 IU
What it does
Preformed Vitamin A as retinyl palmitate — the form your body uses directly, without the conversion bottleneck that limits beta-carotene effectiveness in many people. Vitamin A supports night vision, immune function, skin renewal, and reproductive health. Deficiency is common in older adults, vegetarians, and those with fat-malabsorption conditions.
Key benefits
- Vision and night sight
- Immune function
- Skin renewal
- Mucous membrane health
The evidence
Essential nutrient with well-defined deficiency states (xerophthalmia, immune dysfunction). Preformed retinol preferred over beta-carotene in those with poor conversion (smokers, older adults, certain genetic variants).
Important
Do NOT exceed 10,000 IU/day. AVOID in pregnancy or if planning pregnancy — preformed Vitamin A is teratogenic above safe limits. Avoid combining with isotretinoin or other retinoid medications.
