Iron Bisglycinate
Chelated Iron — 20 mg
What it does
Iron bisglycinate is iron bound to two glycine molecules — chelated for high absorption with none of the gastric irritation, constipation, or metallic taste of iron sulfate or fumarate. Essential where bloodwork shows low ferritin, iron, or haemoglobin. Iron deficiency is common in premenopausal women, vegetarians, frequent blood donors, and adults with chronic gut conditions.
Key benefits
- Haemoglobin formation
- Energy and oxygen delivery
- Cognitive clarity
- Reduced fatigue
The evidence
Multiple RCTs confirm bisglycinate is better tolerated and better absorbed than sulfate. Strong evidence for correcting verified iron deficiency anaemia. Should not be supplemented without bloodwork confirming low ferritin or iron stores.
Important
Do NOT take without bloodwork confirming deficiency — excess iron is toxic and accumulates. Contraindicated in haemochromatosis. Take 2 hours apart from calcium, dairy, tea, and coffee.
